Al-Anbar Province.
‘Anah.

Two Resistance bombs rip through Humvee in ‘Anah Monday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 9:52am Baghdad time Tuesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that two Iraqi Resistance bombs exploded by a US patrol in the middle of the city of ‘Anah, about 300km northwest of Baghdad on Monday.

The AMSI reported eyewitnesses who were on the scene at the time of the attack as saying that Resistance fighters prepared an ambush for the American patrol by the side of the road in ‘Anah at 2:30pm Monday afternoon − the time when the US patrol comes into the city. Two bombs went off simultaneously by the Americans, destroying one Humvee.

Immediately the US troops sealed off the area to prevent information about their losses being reported. Accordingly, no detailed information on the nature or extent of casualties was available.

AMSI noted, however, that in recent days the Iraqi Resistance had stepped up its attacks on the US forces occupying ‘Anah.

Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 11:49pm Baghdad time Tuesday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the puppet police recovered the bodies of 21 more victims of the sectarian murder spree raging in Iraq as the US-installed Shi‘i sectarian regime and Shi‘i sectarian militias seek to implement the partition of the country by driving Sunnis out of vast swathes of territory.

The AMSI reported that 18 of the bodies were found in the Baghdad district of al-Karakh and three more in ar-Rusafah.

Efforts to split Iraq along religious and ethnic lines are part of the plans that US and Zionist politicians have long been cultivating with a view to fragmenting the Arab region.

The idea of “the dissolution of Iraq into a Shi‘ite state, a Sunni state and the separation of the Kurdish part” was voiced by veteran Zionist military correspondent Ze’ev Schiff in Ha'aretz on 2 June 1982 and was a part of the divide-and-rule strategy laid out by Zionist writer Oded Yinon in his “Strategy for Israel in the 1980s,” published in Kivunim (Directions), A Journal for Judaism and Zionism, published by the World Zionist Organization in occupied Jerusalem in February 1982. (It was translated by the late anti-Zionist writer and activist Israel Shahak and is widely available.)

The idea of splitting the Shi‘ah in Iraq from the rest of the country was a cornerstone of the neo-Conservative strategy laid out in “A Clean Break” a paper drawn up by American Zionist government officials Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, David Wurmser, and Paul Wolfowitz in 1996 for the then Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Then in 2000 the neo-Conservative Project for a New American Century wrote Rebuilding America’s Defenses on the basis of the “Clean Break.”

The American version of the strategy for a partition of Iraq appeared in the article “The Three-State Solution” published in The New York Times on 25 November 2003 by Leslie Gelb (President Emeritus of the US Council on Foreign Relations). The same idea was reiterated, this time with “bi-partisan support” in the article by Gelb and US Democratic Senator Joseph Biden in “Unity through Autonomy in Iraq,” in The New York Times on 1 May 2006.

Then on 8 October 2006 the London Sunday Times reported that the partition of Iraq along religious and ethnic lines was one of the suggestions that the Baker-Hamilton commission was advancing.

Vice-President of Baghdad University assassinated.

In a dispatch posted at 9:08pm Baghdad time Tuesday evening, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that unknown armed men shot and killed Dr. Nuhad ‘Abd ar-Rahman ar-Rawi, the Vice-President of Baghdad University and an assistant professor of civil engineering, as he was passing through the al-Bayya‘ neighborhood in Baghdad on his way home.

The AMSI reported that more than 250 professors at Iraqi colleges and universities have been murdered since the United States put the country under its control in spring 2003. About 7,000 more professors have emigrated from the occupied Iraq since that time.

US lifts siege on al-A‘zamiyah Tuesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 7:31pm Baghdad time Tuesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US forces lifted the blockade on the district of al-A‘zamiyah, imposed after a Resistance attack on Thursday.

AMSI reported one eyewitness as saying that the Americans lifted the roadblocks on Tuesday morning, allowing people out to go to work and permitting vehicles into the district once again.

Other witnesses said that technicians were repairing water pipes destroyed last week and that the Americans had turned the electricity back on − at least to the extent that it works in Baghdad, which is subject to restricted hours of operation.

US admits three more of its soldiers killed.

In a dispatch posted at 9:44am Baghdad time Tuesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the US military announced Tuesday that three more of its soldiers had been killed in occupied Iraq.

The AMSI reported the American communique´ as admitting that a bomb exploded by the side of the road in eastern Baghdad on Monday, killing one American and wounding three more of them.

In a second statement, the Pentagon disclosed that one US soldier had been killed on 21 June and a second on 22 June. In keeping with the standard US practice of concealing information related to its casualties in Iraq, the Americans provided few details on the deaths.
