Al-Anbar Province.
‘Anah.

Resistance mortars blast US headquarters in ‘Anah Thursday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 11:54pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Iraqi Resistance blasted the US base in the middle of ‘Anah, about 300km northwest of Baghdad, with four mortar rounds at 5pm local time Thursday afternoon.

The AMSI reported sources in the puppet security forces in ‘Anah as saying that plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the target area. Since the American policy is one of concealing facts regarding their losses in Iraq, no information on US casualties was available.

Al-Hadithah.

Resistance bomb blasts puppet police patrol in al-Hadithah area late Thursday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 11:54pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet police patrol in the area of al-Haqlaniyah, near al-Hadithah, about 270km northwest of Baghdad, at 7pm, local time, late Thursday afternoon.

The AMSI reported a source in the puppet security forces as saying that the Iraqi Resistance bomb disabled a Humvee that the puppet police were using on their patrol in the southern part of al-Haqlaniyah. The source said that the puppet police immediately cordoned off the area where the attack occurred and was unable to offer any information regarding the nature or extent of casualties.

Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 11:37pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that puppet police units recovered the bodies of 24 more victims of sectarian murders that had been dumped in various parts of Baghdad.

The AMSI reported a source in the puppet police as saying that most of the bodies had been bound and blindfolded and showed signs of torture, a trademark of the Shi‘i sectarian militias and the US-backed security forces, most of whose members are drawn from those Shi‘i sectarian militias. The source said that the bodies were taken to the forensic morgue for identification.

Shi‘i sectarian militias have been waging campaigns of abduction, torture, and murder in an effort to purge large parts of Iraq of Sunni residents in order to pave the way for the implantation of US and Zionist plans for the partition of Iraq on sectarian lines.

Efforts to split Iraq along religious and ethnic lines are part of the plans that US and Zionist politicians have long been cultivating with a view to fragmenting the Arab region.

The idea of “the dissolution of Iraq into a Shi‘ite state, a Sunni state and the separation of the Kurdish part” was voiced by veteran Zionist military correspondent Ze’ev Schiff in Ha'aretz on 2 June 1982 and was a part of the divide-and-rule strategy laid out by Zionist writer Oded Yinon in his “Strategy for Israel in the 1980s,” published in Kivunim (Directions), A Journal for Judaism and Zionism, published by the World Zionist Organization in occupied Jerusalem in February 1982. (It was translated by the late anti-Zionist writer and activist Israel Shahak and is widely available.)

The idea of splitting the Shi‘ah in Iraq from the rest of the country was a cornerstone of the neo-Conservative strategy laid out in “A Clean Break” a paper drawn up by American Zionist government officials Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, David Wurmser, and Paul Wolfowitz in 1996 for the then Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Then in 2000 the neo-Conservative Project for a New American Century wrote Rebuilding America’s Defenses on the basis of the “Clean Break.”

The American version of the strategy for a partition of Iraq appeared in the article “The Three-State Solution” published in The New York Times on 25 November 2003 by Leslie Gelb (President Emeritus of the US Council on Foreign Relations). The same idea was reiterated, this time with “bi-partisan support” in the article by Gelb and US Democratic Senator Joseph Biden in “Unity through Autonomy in Iraq,” in The New York Times on 1 May 2006.

Then on 8 October 2006 the London Sunday Times reported that the partition of Iraq along religious and ethnic lines was one of the suggestions that the Baker-Hamilton commission was advancing.

Mysterious bomb near south Baghdad restaurant kills 17.

In a dispatch posted at 9:54pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the number of casualties in the afternoon car bombing of a popular Baghdad restaurant had risen to 17 dead and 30 wounded.

The AMSI reported a source in the puppet police as saying that a car bomb went off Thursday afternoon near the popular al-Baghdadi restaurant in the Abu Dushayr area of southern Baghdad, damaging the restaurant and nearby shops.

In an earlier report at 7:05pm Makkah time, Mafkarat al-Islam had reported sources in the puppet police as saying initially that the blast had killed five people and wounded 15 more. The agency also noted that certain circles are trying to use such explosions to aggravate the sectarian conflict in the country in order to serve the interests of the US occupation.

Women demonstrate in al-A‘zamiyah in Baghdad for release of prisoners held by US, puppet regime.

In a dispatch posted at 11:53am Baghdad time Thursday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that women took to the streets of the walled-off Sunni district of al-A‘zamiyah in Baghdad on Thursday to demand the release of prisoners in the prison camps run by the US and the puppet regime’s “Interior Ministry” and “National Guard.”

Eyewitnesses reported that the women protestors rallied in front of the Imam Abu Hanifah Mosque to call for an end to the raids that US and puppet forces carry out in the district and for a stop to the violations of rights that the occupation troops and their puppet allies routinely commit.

The AMSI reported that the demonstrators called on the United Nations and international human rights organizations to work and to put pressure on the US occupation and the puppet regime to resolve the cases of the prisoners and get them released immediately.

AMSI noted that US forces together with their puppet allies carry out dozens of campaigns of searches and arrests every day. About 19,000 people are currently being held just in three prisons run by the Americans in occupied Iraq, where abuse, maltreatment, and torture are contributing to a decline in health conditions.

US admits helicopter forced down in Ninwa Province Wednesday, killing US soldier.

In a dispatch posted at 9:22am Baghdad time Thursday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the US military admitted that the Iraqi Resistance had shot down another American helicopter, this time in Ninwa Province on Wednesday. It was the 11th helicopter that the Resistance had brought down this year.

The AMSI reported a spokesman for the US military as saying that one American soldier who was a crewman aboard the helicopter had died when the aircraft was forced down in northern Iraq. Another person aboard the helicopter was wounded in the incident.

The US statement said that it was as yet unclear as to whether the helicopter had been directly struck by ground fire or not.

The AMSI reported witnesses as saying that American aircraft attacked the mosque, destroying large parts of the building. US forces carry out frequent attacks on mosques on the grounds that Resistance fighters are supposedly inside.

Diyala Province.
Al-Mada’in.

Puppet “Lion Brigade” troops abduct puppet politician in al-Mada’in Thursday.

In a dispatch posted at 2:31pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the puppet “Lion Brigade of the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” attacked and abducted a member of the puppet municipal council of al-Mada’in, 25km southeast of Baghdad on Thursday.

The AMSI reported eyewitnesses as saying that the puppet regime security troops “arrested” as-Sayyid ‘Amir ‘Abbud ‘Ali ad-Dulaymi when he was in the local market. The puppet troops began by beating him up and then arrested him in a humiliating manner.

Al-Miqdadiyah.

Resistance bomb destroys US vehicle in al-Miqdadiyah Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 12:38pm Baghdad time midday Thursday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US armored vehicle in al-Miqdadiyah, 85km northeast of Baghdad on Thursday morning.

The AMSI reported a source in the puppet security forces in al-Miqdadiyah as saying that a bomb that had been planted on the main road linking al-Miqdadiyah with Khanaqin near the Iranian border went off by a US vehicle. The Americans immediately closed off the area, making detailed information on the nature and extent of injuries to the crew unavailable, but witnesses said that crewmen had been wounded in the blast.

In a separate incident, men equipped with light and medium arms attacked the al-‘Askari neighborhood of al-Miqdadiyah on Wednesday night. Local residents rose to oppose the armed attack, sparking a battle that raged for more than half an hour in the course of which several of the defenders were wounded and a number of houses damaged.

The AMSI reported a source in the puppet “Scorpion Brigade” as saying that one mortar shell hit the headquarters. The source had no information as to the nature or extent of US casualties. The other shell, the source said, struck near the US-occupied headquarters spreading panic among the local population.

A puppet police source said that one more mortar shell blasted into the al-Hillah manual weaving plant in the Nadir ath-Thaniyah neighborhood of the city. The blast wounded a guard at the plant and damaged buildings there.
