Resistance destroys two US Humvees in Baghdad’s al-A‘zamiyah district in ferocious attack following massacre of 10 local civilians by US helicopter gun ships Wednesday.

Iraqi Resistance fighters destroyed two US Humvees, killing or wounding all aboard, in a powerful ambush on US troops in the Baghdad district of al-A‘zamiyah early Thursday morning. The attack took place on the same street where just hours earlier US helicopter gun ships had opened fire on civilians, killing 10 and wounding 30 more.

In a dispatch posted on its website Thursday, Quds Press reported a hospital source as saying that that during the day on Wednesday US helicopter gun ships had killed 10 Iraqis and wounded 30 more in an attack on civilians on ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz Street in al-A‘zamiyah. The source added that many of the wounded were in very serious condition.

Quds Press reported the medical source as saying that following the attack, US forces prevented ambulances from evacuating the wounded to hospitals, opening fire on a number of ambulances that were heading towards the scene of the latest American atrocity.

Later, in the pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning, the Resistance struck back hard. A source in the puppet police said that dozens of Resistance fighters ambushed an American patrol in the streets of the district, sparking a ferocious gun battle that left dead and wounded.

At the time of reporting the US had sealed off al-A‘zamiyah and imposed a curfew as swarms of helicopter gun ships prowled the skies overhead.

Abu Ya‘rab, a commander of the Iraqi Resistance in al-A‘zamiyah, told Quds Press that the American troops together with their puppet regime allies commit horrible massacres of people in al-A‘zamiyah in their continuing attempt to impose their control over the district. But the US policy of random terror killings has not turned the residents of al-A‘zamiyah into supporters of the American occupation or even passive victims. “he sons and daughters of the district are determined to throw out those forces,” Abu Ya‘rab told Quds Press, “and today, thanks be to God, we inflicted heavy losses on those forces. We destroyed two of their Humvees, killing or wounding everyone aboard.

On Wednesday several bombs exploded along the paths of US military columns in al-A‘zamiyah, leaving vehicles destroyed and US troops wounded.

Several weeks ago the US built a concrete wall five kilometers long and 3.5 meters high around the neighborhood in an effort to assert total control over the Sunni population, known for their hostility to the rule of the invaders.

In its dispatch posted at 12:15pm Baghdad time midday Thursday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that on Thursday morning, US occupation troops accompanied by their Iraqi puppet army allies had sealed off the entrances and exits to the walled-off Baghdad district of al-A‘zamiyah.

The AMSI reported eyewitnesses as saying that the action followed a Resistance attack that disabled two US military vehicles on ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz Street in al-A‘zamiyah during Wednesday-Thursday night.

The witnesses said that after the attack had destroyed the two US vehicles, the Americans responded by opening fire indiscriminately around the area, killing two passers by. The US troops then closed off the scene to prevent anyone learning about their casualties or losses.

The witnesses said that the two armored vehicles burst into flame and none of the troops inside ever came out. The witnesses said that the vehicles were destroyed by either a bomb or rocket explosion. As of the time of reporting, the US military had made no announcement about the incident.

US-backed puppet regime forces blow up minaret of Sunni mosque in Baghdad before dawn Thursday.

In a dispatch posted at 12:57pm Baghdad time midday Thursday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a joint detachment of puppet regime “Iraqi National Guards” and puppet “Order Protection Police” blew up the minaret of the Muhammad the Messenger of God (Sunni) Mosque in Baghdad’s al-Jihad district at 2am Thursday morning.

The AMSI reported local residents as saying that the joint puppet-regime force first surrounded the mosque during the night. They then planted explosives around the minaret and blew it up. The sound of the violent blast resounded and the minaret completely collapsed. Local residents suspected that the Shi‘i sectarian militias also had a hand in the sectarian attack, though many members of the US-backed security forces are concurrently members of the Shi‘i sectarian militias anyway.

The collaborationist Shi‘i sectarian bloc of followers of sectarian cleric Muqtada as-Sadr announced the end of its temporary boycott of the puppet “Parliament” on Wednesday.

The IAF announced its boycott after deputies in the puppet “Parliament” voted to expel the IAF leader Mahmud al-Mashhadani over his involvement in a fist fight with a deputy of the main Shi‘i political bloc, the so-called “United Iraqi Alliance.”

In a dispatch posted on its website Thursday, Quds Press reported that al-Mashhadani had also returned to his former post as chairman of the puppet “Parliament” as he was before the altercation.

A roadblock set up by the sectarian militias abducted the woman from in front of a fuel station and too her to the al-‘Amil neighborhood headquarters of the militia under the control of the pro-American puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry.”

Experts on human rights in Iraq, AMSI reported, say that the kidnappings and murders carried out by the Shi‘i sectarian militias are designed to sow terror and fear in order to cause Sunnis to leave areas that the Shi‘i sectarians seek to take over in keeping with plans to partition Iraq on sectarian lines.

The large number of sectarian militias have also spun off gangs of highway robbers and other criminals operating within their ranks and carrying out extortion and kidnapping with the blessings of the heads of the militias who receive shares of the take from ransoms and theft.
