●アメリカ領事館閉鎖

カラチ（アッザーム）
マリオット・ホテル近くのアメリカ領事館の外で車の大爆発があり、5人の女性と警官、3人の準軍事的な領事館の警備員を含む11人の人々の命が奪われた。
他に40人以上の人が重傷を負って、危篤状態である。
スズキ・ハイルーフ他、18台の車が完全に壊れた。
爆発で領事館ビルディングの一部と塀が壊れて平らになってしまった。
マリオット・ホテルを含む近くの建物の窓は爆発で全て粉々にされた。
警察発表によると、午前11時15分頃に起きたこの爆発は自動車爆弾によるものであることが確認された。
爆発は非常に大きく、4フィートもの深さのクレーターがあとに残り、付近の塀と警備員ポストは完全に平らになった。
この爆発で屋根と壁が崩れてアメリカ中央図書館は崩壊した。
目撃者は、あちこちに人間の（遺体の）断片があったと報告した。
そこは大量破壊の現場だった。そして粉々になった車と建物の残骸の中に横たわる死者と負傷者とで混沌としていた。
爆弾攻撃の直後、合衆国海兵隊員が領事館をコントロールした。
当局は死傷者は全てパキスタン国民で、外国人サービスマンに死傷者はないと発表した。
爆発の結果、アメリカ合衆国は領事館とパキスタン国内にある全てのアメリカのオフィスと文化センターを閉鎖した。
パキスタン政府はＦＢＩに調査を助けるよう依頼した。
当局は、犯行声明を出したグループに関する信頼できる報告は全くないと発表した。

The US Consulate and Other American Centers Closed After Suicide Car Bombing Outside US Consulate in Karachi

Karachi (Azzam):
A massive car bomb outside the American consulate, near the Marriot Hotel, claimed the lives of eleven people, including five women, police servicemen and three paramilitary guards of the consulate.
More than 40 others were severely injured with most being in critical condition.
The car, a Suzuki Highroof, and eighteen other cars were completely destroyed.
A portion of the consulate building and the boundary walls were levelled by the blast.
All the windows from nearby buildings including the Marriot were shattered by the force of the explosion.
According to police reports, the explosion, which occured at 11.15 a.m. was confirmed to be due to a car bomb.
The blast was so large that it left a 4 foot deep crater, and the nearby walls and guard post were completely levelled.
The American center library was destroyed when the roof and walls collapsed from the explosion.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing pieces of human flesh and blood everywhere.
The scene was one of mass destruction and chaos with the dead and injured laying amid the shattered remains of cars and buildings.
Immediately after the bomb attack, US marines took control of the consulate.
The authorities have said that all those killed were Pakistani nationals and no foriegn servicemen were killed or injured.
As a result of the explosion, the United States has closed down the consulate and all other American foreign offices and cultural centers around the country.
The Pakistan government has called on the FBI to help in the investigations.
Authorities have said that there have been no credible reports of any group claiming responsibility for the attack.
