●マラカンド管区（パキスタン）での調査活動
サワット（アッザーム）：
ＦＢＩは、北西フロンティア地方（NWFP）のマラカンドで宗教機関とジハード・グループ、そしてアル・カーイダとの関連を疑われているものに対する調査を開始した。
情報筋は、部族地区での不成功で不完全な作戦の後に情報部の人員がマラカンド管区に移動したと話した。
主要な捜索活動はサワットとその近隣で行われている。そして、他の地区と同様にこの捜索活動は地元民の間にたいへんな怒りと動揺を引き起こしている。
マラカンド地方は非常に平和であり、そこの人々はとても宗教心が厚く伝統を重んじる。
地元民はＦＢＩと米特殊部隊の到着を猛烈に非難した。
そして、そこには進行中の作戦に対して広範囲にわたる怒りがある。
数名の地方当局者は、「法と秩序が悪化するだろう、そして、米兵の駐留によって緊張状態が危険なものに変わるだろう」と、語った。
FBI Investigations Under Way in Malakand Division in NWFP of Pakistan
Sawat (Azzam):
The FBI have reached Malakand in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and have begun investigations in to religious institutions, Jihadi groups and suspected Al-Qaida links.
Sources have said that the intelligence agency personnel moved to the Malakand division after unsuccessful and incomplete operations in the tribal regions.
The main searches are taking place in Sawat and nearby districts and, as in other places, is causing great anger and agitation among the local populace.
The Malakand region has been very peaceful and the people are very religious and traditional.
Locals have strongly criticised the arrival of the FBI and US commandos and there is widespread anger at ongoing activities.
Some local authorities have stated that law and order might deteriorate and the tense situation might turn dangerous due to the presence of US personnel.
