23 January 2002 :
American Prepares Muslim Public Opinion for Next Terror Strike
http://www.azzam.com Daily news, articles and interviews on the Jihad in Afghanistan
Jihad amongst the Muslims today has become like a taboo subject that is discussed over coffee.
The one who writes and speaks about Jihad has not even spent a minute in the battlefield. - Sheikh Abdullah Azzam
WASHINGTON (Monitoring Desk):
International Human Rights Organisations, the Red Cross and Amnesty International have both protested against the behaviour of US forces with Taliban and Al-Qaida prisoners held in the Guantanamo US base in Cuba.
They have demanded the US to stop its inhumane attitude towards these prisoners.
The Chief Medical Officer of Amnesty International reacted strongly against photographs of these prisoners published by numerous newspapers all over the world.
He said that in these photographs the prisoners were forced to wear mask, black glasses, had cotton plugs in their ears and were bound with heavy chains around their arms and legs.
All these measures were taken so that the prisoners are unable to see, hear, speak, sense or even smell anything.
The medical officer said that these photographs reinvoked the body torture which was used in Eastern Europe during the 1970s.
Whilst human rights organisations have been protesting against this torture, the US and British Governments firmly support them whilst there is no law anywhere in the World that allows suspects that have not even been tried yet, to be treated in this manner.
The British Government claims that its officials visited the three British nationals:
Feroz Abbasi, 22, Ugandan- Briton, Shakir Abdur-Raheem Aamir, 36, Saudi-Briton and one other who was unnamed, and that they had "no substantial complaints".
The British Government did not reveal what their complaints were, but rather it decided to follow the American line of using smart vocabulary and terms such as "unlawful combatants" and other rubbish in order to hide the truth.
The British Government declined to publicise its full reports on the visit.
Furthermore, a report prepared by the Red Cross, who are also on the island, has been kept secret.
One may ask, what is so secret about the conditions in which prisoners are kept?
The fact of the matter is that the report of the Red Cross contains true details of the torture being given out to these prisoners and thus it will further inflame Muslim public opinion if is brought out into the open.
Another issue that this incident has brought to light is that it has proved America and Britain's hatred towards Islam and the Muslims and the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAWS) and their total disrespect for any international 'norms' and 'regulations'.
However, the Muslim Ummah has a long memory and it does not forget incidents like these.
Rather, what America is doing with its blatant provocation of treating the prisoners belonging to a religion of 1.2 billion people, is building up Muslim public opinion for the next terror strike on America and Americans.
When the 11 September attacks took place, many in the Muslim World, especially those in the Western countries, thought that these attacks were unjust and that attacks of this magnitude were not deserved by America.
However, due to the public display of America's hatred against Islam, this opinion in the Muslim World is now turning from disgust to understanding and support.
The other issue is that most of the Western people support their governments 100% in their torture of these Muslim prisoners and the humiliation of their religion by shaving their beards.
One only has to read the newspaper letters, discussion boards and other comments posted by non-Muslim Westerners to realise that the vast majority of them support this torture and that the ones who are against it, like human rights campaigners etc. are only a minority.
The hypocrites in the World condemned the Taliban for their human rights' abuses and their treatment of prisoners.
However, we may ask:
"Is there one single incident of the Taliban treating their prisoners, whether Muslim, non- Muslim, Northern Alliance, Western, in this manner, depriving them of the ability to speak, hear, smell, move, etc. throughout the seven years that they were in power?"
The British journalist, Yvonne Ridley, herself said that she was treated very well by the Taliban whilst held captive by them.
She herself said that she was allowed five meals a day, a room (not cell) to herself, fresh clothes and she was even given cigarettes.
This was whilst she was put on trial, after which she was released and allowed to return to Pakistan.
Where is this treatment for the prisoners in Cuba then?
Who are the real champions of human rights and justice - the Taliban or the Americans?
What happened to the famous slogan "innocent until proven guilty"?
In conclusion, anger in the Muslim World is building more and more.
Every image of the heroes of the Muslim World being treated worse than slaves, every letter or posting by non-Muslim Westerners supporting these actions, every statement by Western officials about the prisoners is going into the minds and the memories of the Muslims.
The last week or two has seen more and more Muslim mosques, organisations and spokesmen condemn this torture.
America is building up more enemies for itself.
The next time there is a martyrdom operation carried out by individuals for whom the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAWS) is worth more than the lives of American civilians, America only has itself to blame:
it cannot point the finger at anyone when the 'chickens come home to roost'.
QUNDUZ: FIERCE CLASHES BETWEEN DEFENCE MINISTER AND VICE DEFENCE MINISTER'S FORCES:11 KILLED AND 12 INJURED
QUNDUZ (Monitoring Desk):
Fierce clashes have been reported in Qunduz between troops loyal to the Afghan Interim Government's Defence Minister, General Faheem, and Vice Defence Minister, General Dostum.
These clashes occured both in Kalooi Zala, which is a region of Takhar province, and in Qunduz province near the Tajik border.
In these clashes which started three days ago, 11 men are reported to have been killed and 12 have been reported to be injured so far.
Heavy and light weapons were openly used in the fighting.
According to reliable sources, a cease fire agreement was signed between the two parties yesterday, but it is not yet clear if this has made a difference and halted the fighting.
Locals said that the intentions of both groups predict that fighting may break out again.
KANDAHAR: FIERCE FIGHTING CONTINUES BETWEEN PAEDOPHILE GOVERNOR GUL AGHA AND COMMANDER HAJI MUHAMMAD TROOPS
KANDAHAR (Radio Report):
The clashes between Kandahar's paedophile governor, Gul Agha's, and Shura Commander Haji Muhammad's troops are still continuing.
Decisions made by Gul Agha's administration were not accepted by Commander Haji Muhammad and so he has setup checkposts in his region with the help of his troops and strictly warned the interim government not to interfere in his territory.
He also declared that he would not accept any of Gul Agha's decisions.
Heavy fighting is expected to break out soon in the region due to the intensity of circumstances.
Commander Haji Muhammad belonged to Hizb-e-Islami and he has much control over the various regions of Kandahar.
The locals said that if a war break out between these troops that many lives will be lost.
Such indifferences and clashes between interim government servicemen and local fighters in various regions of Northern and Southern Afghanistan indicate the level of disturbance in the country since the Taliban left power.
ANOTHER US HELICOPTER DESTROYED IN BAGRAM KILLING TWO SOLDIERS AND 'INJURING' SEVEN
KABUL (Monitoring Desk):
A US helicopter was destroyed in a region 60 km away from Bagram Airport, which is to the north of the Afghan capital, Kabul.
In this incident two US soldiers were killed and seven others were injured, according to US authorities:
the real death toll is higher since perhaps it may be unknown to the Americans that it is not normal for human beings to drop 100m from the sky onto the ground and survive.
According to US sources, this helicopter took off on Sunday morning at 7 am from Bagram Airport along with another helicopter.
After 30 minutes into the flight, it apparently crashed due to 'technical failure'.
US officials said that there was no evidence that this helicopter was attacked by hostile forces although investigations are in progress.
The mothers of the American servicemen in Afghanistan have to ask themselves, "Do we really believe that it was just another technical failure?"
If it was another technical failure, then perhaps the families of those killed should pursue law suits for damages against the manufacturers of these helicopters, which malfunction every couple of weeks or so.
TRUCK DRIVER CRASHES INTO A US ARMY VEHICLE in KANDAHAR KILLING ALL FOUR OCCUPANTS INCLUDING ONE OFFICER
KANDAHAR (Special Report):
A truck driver 'accidently' crashed into a US Army vehicle in Kandahar.
In the western part of Kandahar, Mewand District, a speeding truck driver hit the front of a Toyota Corolla which was clearly marked with US markings.
The truck was filled with sand and its driver managed to escape in another vehicle following the truck.
According to eyewitnesses, the US vehicle was completely crushed and there were no chances of any of the four occupants surviving.
US FORCES SEARCH FOR KIDNAPPED US OFFICER IN KANDAHAR
KANDAHAR (Islam News):
According to information received from Kandahar, US soldiers have started search operations of cars with the cooperation of the local government, following the kidnap of a US Officer by unknown men.
30 US- manned checkpoints have been set up between the Irghisan Bridge at Chaman and Kandahar, searching every car that passes.
