In a dispatch posted at 11:35am Mecca time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short time earlier, Iraqi Resistance forces fired four mortar rounds into the Japanese occupation forces’ base in the southern Iraqi city of as-Samawah.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that the barrage sent black smoke into the sky as sirens wailed inside the Japanese base.� The four mortar shells landed in various parts of the Japanese-occupied facility, but were focused particularly on the western part of the base.� No information on the nature or extent of casualties was available.
