Suzuki shirou who was chairman on a TV program met an old man who had participated Nanjing Incident.
They talked anout Nanjong. Suzuki said "Terrible thing had happened there. You can't go there anymore". Old man said "No. I hope to go there until I die." Suzuki surprized "Why?"
Old man said "I was sanitary soldier. I helped Chinese soldier either. He and His family apreciate to me, and said "Please come again to Nanjing after war. We wait you eagerly." So I hope to go."
Suzuki remenbered when he was a child he had lived in TianJin of China after Nanjing Incident. The life at there was so calmful that he didn't even know about "Nanjing massacre at that time."
Later Suzuki met this old man again. Suzuki showed a picture which seemed to a evidence of "Nanjing massacre." In the caption written "cruel Japanese soldier cutted off Chinese soldier's leg not to run away."
But old man joy and said "I remenber this soldiet very well. I hadn't material to make artifitial leg, so I made it from kettle for him. Can you give this pic to me?"
Suzuki heard many other former soldier their experience.
"I killed many soldier in Nanjing. But only soldier. Many Japanese soldier also died."
"I killed a soldier shooting from pillbox. I went close to him. He was young and were bounded by chain noy to run away. I made grave for them."
"After war in Nanjing, a Chinese said "thanks soldier. I want to brush your shoes." I was very glad so I gave him a candy."
Later I study more and more, I remenber life in China more and more, Suzuki become to believe there was no massacre in Nanjing.
Suzuki was born in 1938 in Kyoto. When he was one years old, he went to China with his family.
Suzuki and his famy lived in Japanese concession where was very peaceful.
This upper picture is Suzuki, his two sisters and a Chinese friend. Her mother made my sisters Chinese style clothes.

Sometimes he saw Japanese soldier in this town. His Chinese friend says "It's cool. I want to become like him in the future."
Suzuki had lived in Tianjin for seven years, and told about battle of Singapore, etc. But never heard about "Nanjing massacre.
When Suzuki was 3 or 4 years old, He went to Nanjing.
His father said "When I brought you to Nanjing, your behavior was good. A Chinese praised and said "Your shape if ear are very good. Can I hold up you? So I can be lucky.""
His father often said "Japanese soldier gave food to Nanjing citizm, so they could survive. Just strong isn't enough, but you must also be gentile." Suzuki was very impressed.
There was a movie "Nanjing". Suzuki also watched it. It's calm landscape was resembled to his Tianjin life.
This movie ofen used wide shot. It's fifficult to avoid Wide shot can not avoid obstacle. So we can know they knew there were "obstacle".
A Japanese soldier gentle to kids. Japanese and Chinese were playing together cheerfuly. You'll find it difficult to think there was massacre here.
After war, Suzuki had returned Japan with dangerous experience. He worked at TV company.
Someday, he noticed that it became very difficult even saying "there might not be Nanjing massacre". An atmosphere spreaded.
After I retired, I became free. So sometimes in lecture meeting, I talked about my opinion about Nanjing. But TV and magazine never published my talk.
