Racially Okinawans are not same with Chinese nor Korean, but they are same with almost Japanese who have Y genetic in DNA, although they had independent country like Kingdom of Hawaii.
There are large difference in accents, pronunciation and vocabulary between Japanese standard and Okinawan like between southern people in US, Australians and cockney in London. Okinawan's language is a some kind of localized Classical Japanese in history meaning. When we Japanese hear Okinawa's native language, we cannot understand what they say, but in written and some explanation for original meaning, we can find meaning in our classic language which had spoken in KYOTO in ancient days.
A prefectural governor Mr.Onaga said Commercial facilities make good effect on Okinawa's economy rather than economy result of US bases employment which almost Japanese have bereaved that US base employment makes Okinawans have much money.
Almost Okinawans hate US bases in Okinawa islands and want to replace them in Japanese main lands, I think it should be also.
