中国の2つの主要な地図プラットフォーム(アリババとバイドゥ)では、イスラエルの近隣諸国であるエジプト、シリア、ヨルダン、レバノンを見ることができますが、ユダヤ人国家の名前は見当たらない。
この変更は、ガザ地区でイスラエルとハマスの間で紛争が激化する中で行われた戦時中の決定のようだが、両社は変更について何の説明もせず、ウォール・ストリート・ジャーナルの問い合わせに対するコメントを拒否している。
この2つのウェブサイトは、中国政府が領土問題に敏感なため、国民のアクセスをブロックしているGoogleマップに相当する役割を果たしています。過去には、自国の領土主張を認めていない地図を持つ外国のプラットフォームに怒りをあらわにしたことがある。
中国外務省は、10月7日にイスラエルでハマスが犯した虐殺を明確に非難することを控え、代わりに「民間人に危害を加える行為」を非難し、紛争のすべての当事者に平静を呼びかけた後、イスラエルと中国の関係は戦争の過程で緊張しています。その後、中国の王毅外相は、ガザ地区におけるイスラエルの「行動は自衛を超えている」と述べた。
一方、イスラエル外務省は「中国の声明と発表に深い失望」を表明した。
同省によると、戦争の勃発を受けて出された中国の声明は、「数十人のガザへの拉致を含む、無辜の民間人に対してハマスが実行した恐ろしいテロ行為に対する明確かつ明確な非難」を提供していない。

On the two major Chinese map platforms - Alibaba and Baidu - viewers are able to see Israel’s neighboring countries of Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon, while the Jewish state’s name is missing.
Although the change appears to have been a wartime decision, made as conflict rages between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, the companies have offered no explanation for the change, refusing comment to a Wall Street Journal inquiry about the practice.
The two websites serve as the country’s equivalent of Google Maps, to which the Chinese government blocks access for its citizens, due to its sensitivity about territorial matters. In the past, it has angrily challenged foreign platforms whose maps did not acknowledge their own territorial claims.
Relations between Israel and China have been tense over the course of the war, after China’s Foreign Ministry refrained from clearly condemning the massacre committed by Hamas in Israel on October 7, merely denouncing “actions that harm civilians” instead, and calling for calm on all sides of the conflict. Subsequently, Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi stated that Israel's “actions have gone beyond self-defense” in Gaza.
The Israel's Foreign Ministry in turn, has expressed its "deep disappointment with the Chinese statements and announcements."
According to the ministry, Chinese statements made in response to the war's outbreak have failed to provide “a clear and unambiguous condemnation of the horrific terrorist acts carried out by Hamas against innocent civilians, including the abduction of dozens of them to Gaza.”
China, along with Russia, vetoed a U.S. push for the United Nations to act on the Israel-Hamas conflict by calling for pauses in fighting to allow humanitarian aid access, the protection of civilians and a stop to arming Hamas and other militants in the Gaza Strip, favoring instead a resolution demanding a total ceasefire.
Across the Chinese media and Internet world, which is monitored and censored by the government, anti-Israel and antisemitic messaging has been rampant, including numerous tropes regarding alleged Jewish control of the American media.
The government’s English-language newspaper China Daily published an editorial charging that the position of the U.S. – blind support of Israel – places it "on the wrong side of history.”
When the Israeli Embassy in China asked China to condemn Hamas on the popular Chinese social network Weibo, the post received thousands of hateful and antisemitic responses.
Before the outbreak of war, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been scheduled to visit Beijing this month, in an attempt to promote a line of rapprochement with China.
